M-F, 6/1/22-9/30/22 Job Summary:Under the direction of the
Environmental Health Manager, performs technician duties relating
Environmental Health and Sanitation. Essential Functions:These
duties are the essential functions and are not all-inclusive of all
duties that the technician performs.
- Performs groundwater monitoring.
- Performs final drain field inspections for wastewater
program.
- Performs air quality monitoring site calibration and/or
checks.
- Communicates environmental health information to others.
- Works productively with other staff members.
- Assist in administrative office duties.
- Assists in investigating complaints of unsanitary conditions
and nuisance complaints.
- Maintains records and reports of sanitary inspection and
complaint activities.
- May be required to testify in court relating to action taken
against violators of public health law.Non-Essential
Functions:Technician may be requested to perform functions relevant
to the position but not listed above.Supervisory
Responsibilities:This is a non-supervisory position. Travel
Required:Travel throughout Ravalli County. Required
Skills/Abilities:
- Skills in effective communication and public speaking.
- Skills in basic mathematics.
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving
record.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Must have general computer skills; ability to utilize GIS
systems, iPad, GPS device.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with those contacted during the course of work;
including co-workers, supervisors, other professionals and the
public, especially when dealing with sensitive matters.
- Ability to appropriately assess a wide variety of
environmental/sanitary situations through inspections,
investigations, etc.
- Ability to determine compliance with laws and regulations.
- Possess the personal attributes and physical ability to perform
the work without hazard to self or others.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when
appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful
environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Required Education and Experience:High school diploma or
equivalent.Physical Demands and Work Environment:Majority of work
is performed in an outdoor environment and requires typical range
of motion and physical agility. Frequently walks on uneven outdoor
terrain. Needs to be able to lift 30 pounds and climb a
