RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Libby, Montana.

per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel
Position Summary: We are seeking a flexible and skilled Labor &
Delivery (L&D) Nurse who is also comfortable supporting
med/surg assignments when obstetric patients are not present. This
position requires adaptability, clinical competence in both L&D
and general medical-surgical care, and a collaborative approach to
patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct patient
care in the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units. Support the
med/surg floor when there are no OB patients in the building.
Manage a patient assignment typically capped at 3 patients;
occasionally 4 patients may be assigned on night shifts depending
on census. Collaborate with the team in a rotational model between
Primary OB RN and Secondary OB RN roles: Primary OB RN: Not
assigned a patient load, kept available for incoming labor
patients. Secondary OB RN: Assigned stable, lower-acuity med/surg
patients (no more than 3). Participate in regular role rotation to
ensure balanced workload and skill utilization. Remain prepared for
spontaneous OB admissions, recognizing the unpredictability of
labor onset despite scheduled due dates. Ensure compliance with all
clinical protocols, safety standards, and hospital policies.
Qualifications: Current RN license in good standing. BLS, ACLS,
PALS, NRP, AWHONN, STABLE certifications required. Minimum of 1
year of L&D nursing experience preferred. Comfort and
experience with med/surg nursing assignments is a plus. Strong
clinical judgment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing
patient needs. Additional Notes: Patient census and OB activity can
fluctuate unpredictably; nurses may experience variable L&D
exposure based on shift timing and admissions. Travelers and
permanent staff alike should expect a dynamic work environment with
a supportive team approach to cross-unit responsibilities. A new
staffing model is being implemented to better streamline L&D
coverage and med/surg support; timeline for full rollout is to be
