This role involves preparing the operating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The OR RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and adheres to the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, and professional ethics in a dynamic surgical environment. /n/nEssential Work Functions:/n/n /n/t - Prepare the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure/n/t - Assists in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements/n/t - Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhering to infection control protocols and sterile technique/n/t - Anticipates the needs of the surgical team providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow/n/t - Monitors patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon of any significant changes/n/t - Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols/n/t - Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results/n/t - Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly/n/t - Participate in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases ensuring continuity of care/n/t - Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols/n/t - Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards/n/t - Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures/n/t - Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice/n /n/nRequired Essential Skills:/n/n /n/t - Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills/n/t - The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required/n/t - Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills/n/t - Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending/n/t - Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism/n/t - Technical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment./n/t - Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
