CT Tech Location: Davenport, WA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $3,031 per week Shift Information: Rotating - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Radiologic Technologist, CT Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Radiologic Technologist, CT Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 3 years, CT experience required License: Certified Radiologic Technologist license Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, ARRT (R) Must-Have: Successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program Description: The Radiologic Technologist performs a variety of radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The individual performs general diagnostic, portable, bedside, and Computed Tomography (CT) exams. The Radiologic Technologist uses sound judgment and radiologic skills to obtain the highest quality images while keeping radiation doses to patients and personnel as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Reads requisition to determine area of interest, refers to exam guidelines for necessary views. Uses practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain optimum image quality. Speaks with patients to ascertain pertinent history associated with the requested exam. Uses language appropriate for the age and mental status of the patient to convey exam information. Assesses patient condition to assure the best method of performing requested exam. Shows patients how equipment may be moved and what is expected of them. Notifies nursing personnel immediately of any change in patient condition. Updates and changes exam descriptions to reflect actual exams performed. Reviews daily radiology charge reports to assure the correct billing of patient accounts. After consulting with a radiologist, communicates with the referring provider when orders need to be changed to ensure the most appropriate procedure for the patient is accomplished. Fills out online forms upon exam completion thereby expediting reporting of exam results. Explains what the procedure entails to the patient thereby securing maximum cooperation. Utilizes radiographic and computed tomography equipment. Utilizes portable and C-Arm equipment in various departments. Demonstrates correct use of personal barrier equipment in instances when required. Uses sterile technique when drawing solutions into syringes and connecting tubing to bags/bottles. Inspects contrast media bottles and normal saline bags for expiration dates prior to usage. Draws up appropriate contrast media volume and concentration according to CT protocols. Conducts checks ensuring contrast warmer temperature is within manufacturer’s guidelines. Places patients in proper alignment with respect to x-ray beam, anatomic part, and cassette. Follows department protocol manual to include views, cassette size, and positioning. Provides additional views when requested and documents any deviation from protocol. Uses immobilization devices appropriately as needed. Selects technical factors taking into account the age, anatomy, and physiology of the patient. Employs x-ray beam collimation and patient protective devices prudently. Uses automatic exposure techniques when appropriate. Wears radiation monitoring device at all times while working in areas where radiation is in use. Reviews images for image quality. If not diagnostic, repeats views as deemed necessary. Reviews images for proper positioning of body part being imaged. Repeats judiciously. Uses personal lead identification markers when performing diagnostic imaging studies. Ensures appropriate image presentation states are loaded for interpretation. Performs warmup of x-ray and CT tubes according to manufacturer’s guidelines. Identifies patients by verbally questioning their name against the patient’s wristband. Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures adhering to safety standards. Reports equipment malfunctions immediately to supervisor or maintenance personnel. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information according to HIPAA guidelines. Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Interacts with patients and families from various developmental and sociocultural backgrounds. Provides information to patients and families to reduce anxiety and convey an attitude of acceptance, sensitivity, and caring. Maintains professional relationships and conveys relevant information to other members of the healthcare team. Initiates communication with peers about clinical priorities for care. Works closely with other care providers to complete imaging scans of patients and to provide clinical assistance as needed. Delegates work to other staff members as needed. Reports on patient conditions to those who require information, including physicians and other staff. Initiates problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Attends staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required for the position. Contributes to the annual review of unit-based scope of care statement and determination of important aspects of care for clinical review. Contributes to annual reviews of peer performance as requested by the supervisor. Supports involvement in performance improvement initiatives.
