This position is a part-time .67 FTE benefited position located in Grangeville, Idaho. Example of Duties Responsibilities: + Resolves the full scope of irregular problem situations encountered when performing a wide range of interrelated, nonstandard assignments pertaining to fire program management activities + Plans and provides critical logistical support information to the supervisor for successful implementation of fire management program activities. Makes recommendations concerning the efficient use of available resources + Operates and/or directs the operation of various dispatch telecommunication systems + Organizes and reviews completed records of all orders placed and actions taken to ensure adherence to established operating procedures + Coordinates aviation dispatch operations (e.g., aircraft capabilities and limitations, flight planning, aviation safety) + Provides assistance on problems encountered by lower level dispatch personnel + Records and maintains communication logs + Coordinates and may assist with fire training and orientation + Reviews internal operating procedures and systems, makes recommendations for improvement, and updates/develops operating plans and mobilization guides + Follows dispatch manual instructions and review resource available to fulfill resource order Decisions have parameters and guidelines in place + Working long shifts during high fire danger period of the fire season, working weekends and holidays can be expected Minimum Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Experience: + Conducting and documenting fact-finding interviews; reading, writing, and speaking English proficiently; reading and interpreting detailed information; entering and retrieving data from a computer. Reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures; using a computer to enter and retrieve information. + Physical ability to hear and understand messages received in person, or transmitted via radio, computer and/or telephone. + Ability to use multi-channel radios, multi-line phones, computers, keep accurate records, and read maps. + Experience with emergency management or wildland fire dispatch. Supplemental Information Desirable Qualifications Experience: + Qualified as a National Interagency Incident Management System (NIIMS) Initial Attack Dispatcher (IADP) and/or Aircraft Dispatcher (ACDP). + Experience with fire-related computer applications: IROC and WildCAD.
