Job Description:

Providence is calling a Peer Support Specialist (Behavioral Health, Variables, 0.0 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson, Montana. In this position you will:

  • Apply personal experience of recovery and recovery services to complete small projects or conduct a series of tasks with a limited degree of supervision
  • Work with participant to identify, develop, and access supports to increase his/her success in community integration and community inclusion
  • Support and teach recovery and recovery tools and models personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness
  • Facilitate the participant's self-review of progress upon each encounter
  • In partnership with each participant assess their hopes, strengths, accomplishments and challenges in order to achieve his/her stated goals
  • In partnership with each participant develop the recovery plan and his/her support system in order to support him/her in becoming self-sufficient
  • Support participants in the self-management of critical or crisis situations
  • Support participants in coordinating with or in choosing his/her significant and relevant supports in order to arrange services or resources to achieve his/her goals
  • Assist the individual in preparation and recording of the peer support recovery plan, encounter notes, and other documents that verify service delivery using person-first language, in a timely manner according to established quality and regulatory standards
  • Use one's own recovery experience to encourage recovery in others
  • Escort participants when necessary and ensures participants safety when participating in events, visits, and other interactions
  • EHR: Enter participant date in the Electronic Healthcare Record system upon intake
  • Ensure that all participants visits are documented in EHR immediately
  • Ensure that all data is correct by verifying information with the participant on every visit
  • Administrative: Participate in weekly supervision and in team review of documentation of the comprehensive assessment of participants in various life domains
  • Administrative: Create weekly schedule that meets existing program productivity standards and supervision
  • Administrative: Participate in staff meetings and trainings

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Credentialed as a Certified Peer Specialist within 3 months of hire; must possess a valid driver's license
  • Two (2) years of experience in recovery for a minimum of 2 years

With expanding services, building renovations and outstanding technology, our community hospital is the heart of medical care in Polson, Montana and the large, sparsely populated surrounding area. We have close ties to Providence St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center, Providence's tertiary center located 66 miles away in Missoula.
