Supervisor Patient Access20161Position Summary:Supervises Patient Access Staff and Patient Access department operations, including Registrar, Schegistrar and Registration Specialist functions performed across the department. Responsible for ensuring performance metrics are met, including registration accuracy, insurance verification, POS collections, staff scheduling, recording of correct Primary Care Providers, and timely clearance of registration edits in assigned work queues. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accurate patient registration and assuring optimal patient flow for various departments including nursing units at bedsideEnsures that staff perform daily operational requirements, including completing bedside or at-counter registration, point of service collections, daily deposit preparation, performing daily cash drawer reconciliation, resolving registration edits in assigned Epic work queues, deliver regulatory-required patient forms and collect signatures, determine and record correct primary care provider informationEnsures Downtime Policy protocols are followed as neededAssists Department Manager with annual budget and variances, opportunities for expense reduction, staff development and training, and implementation of departmental procedures and workflows Supports denial reduction efforts through regular review of Registration denials reporting, timely follow-up with staff and participation in performance improvement initiatives. Meets with Billing Department and clinical partners, as needed to prevent denialsResponsible for creating and maintains sufficient supply of shell medical record packetsEnsures Patient Class changes are processed and input into the EMR timely and meeting compliance requirements from instructions received Corrects errors in real time and provides feedback/coaching to staffResponsible for meeting various compliance requirements and tracks staff and department performance against regulatory requirements, reporting performance results to Transitional Care and Revenue Cycle leadershipCollaborates with various departments to support process improvement and revenue enhancement effortsOn boards and trains staff, and monitors performance qualityShares responsibility to meet performance requirements within budgetary guidelines.Promotes employee engagement and high morale through active participation and initiation of employee development activities and check-ins; actively participates and collaborates with staff on Gallup Survey preparation activities, action plans, and recognitionsResponsible to monitor and respond to Patient Access-related Midas events.Stays current on government regulations including the Idaho Patient Act, No Surprises Act, etc.Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assignedRequirements and Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associate s degree required
    • Minimum 3 years patient registration experience required; 5 years preferred
    • Epic EMR experience in front end Revenue Cycle preferred
    • Familiarity with current commercial and government insurance programs and payment methodologies
    • Familiar with current federal and state regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, EMTALA, and the No Surprises ActWorking Conditions:
      • Must be able to maintain a sitting position
